Do you, like a lot of admins, find yourself overwhelmed with “to do’s” and never enough time to do them?

Each one of us is given a gift each day of 86,400 seconds. Sounds like a lot doesn’t it? But when they are gone at the end of the day – they’re gone. And of course, what you do with those seconds is really what it’s all about.

I have a friend, Anna, who is the most organized person that I know. Everything is done BEFORE it has to be done and when interruptions to the day occur, she knows exactly how to re-focus her attentions on the important matters. And she does it all without becoming flustered, frustrated or irritated.

I watched her one day handle - in the space of 15 minutes —

A boss who was frantically calling because his flight had been cancelled twice and he needed to be switched to another airline in other to make a connection within 20 minutes. He was the keynote speaker at a research seminar.

A son who called to say that he was sent home for fighting in class. (I guess he figured he should call before his teacher did).

A conference that was set up with 30 out of town business people arriving & waiting in the lobby with no meeting room (or lunches) ordered.

A package that had to be messengered to New York overnight and the last pick up of the day had just left the building.

Now, because I was so amazed with the calmness and efficiency my friend used to deal with each of these situations so smoothly, I had to ask her how she did it. And guess what she told me?

There are only 4 simple things to get control of any situation.

1. Take a deep breath – Oxygen really does focus you and gives you time to quiet yourself.

2. Think about what needs to be done to fix whatever needs fixing at that moment – only.

3. Assume an attitude of confidence that you can handle the problem and that you will handle the problem. (Even if you don’t think you can – act as if…)

4. Take action immediately – and step by step do what you need to do to solve the problem.

Once you’ve taken the time to breathe and see what needs to be taken care of in each instance, you’ll start finding yourself able to take care of three things seemingly at once – almost effortlessly because you’re in the flow.

I came across this article while doing some research a while back and I’m sure you’ll want some specific info on Becoming Organized.

Be sure and let me know what you think by leaving a comment and/or your best tips for being organized. I’m curious to see what others are doing.

The best way to get the respect your deserve is to develop an unshakable confidence in who you are. Have you often wondered: Why can’t I be more of a confident person? Why don’t I speak up when I need to? What’s holding me back?

Read about how something as simple as an affirmation can help — And Yes, they do work

Improving Your Self Confidence
By Will Edwards

“Let’s face it, we all need Self Confidence to cope with the trials of modern life, but what many people don’t realise is the extent to which our lives are governed by this simple attribute of personality. Self-confident people are winners: things go right for them; people like them; and they get the results they want more often than not.

Now wouldn’t you like to have more of that kind of quality in your life?

Well – you can! If you are not a self-confident person, you can become one; and it’s easier than you might think. But before we can walk through the ‘door’ to unlimited self-confidence, we need to first discover exactly what a confident person is; then we can look at how to acquire it.

First of all, a self-confident person is someone who believes they are confident. Their lives exude confidence because they are simply being true to that unshakeable inner belief. Conversely, a person without confidence is someone who does not have that belief; and is equally acting out the consequences of their inner thoughts. Same process – different results!

Here we have the key to acquiring that confidence: we must change our beliefs about who and what we are. Once we have done that, the rest – the unshakeable self confidence we seek – will follow quite naturally. So the question really becomes one about how we can go about the business of changing our beliefs about who we are and what we are capable of achieving; and there are many ways to do that including self-hypnosis, NLP and the use of positive affirmations.

In this article, I want to take a look at the use of positive affirmations. Affirmations do work because they deal with changing the inner person first. The reason they work is because: if you choose to repeat a particular phrase over and over again (I recommend at least three times a day; and three repetitions each time – that’s 9 time in total – minimum) then eventually your subconscious mind will accept that you are what you have been saying.

Once that acceptance has taken place for the inner person, the outer person will begin to experience the benefits. The good news is that you don’t even have to believe in the process; you just need to engage in the discipline of doing the repetitions each and every day until you produce the results you want.

Affirmations for Self-Confidence and Self-Belief:

- I AM Growing in Confidence Each and Every Day

- I AM Receiving All the Self-Confidence I Need

- I AM Brimming with Confidence

So try the above affirmations, repeating each of them three times; and do this procedure three times per day. Try them for a period of one month and you will begin to see some excellent results!”

I personally, find affirmations helpful because they work within your subconscious to change your mindset. And you don’t have to work at it.

Some Admins get recognized ONLY this one day of the year for their efforts and then it’s back to business as usual, “What’s that about?

It’s nice to be recognized, but all AAs much prefer a boss who treats them like the Professional Assistants they are every day. A little consideration daily goes a long way and keeps everyone happy.

Over the years, I successfully trained my boss to treat me this way.

Now you may be wondering, “Is it me or are there many more AAs who seem to have the same problem with getting the respect you deserve from the boss?” I’ve seen that besides the normal work load issues, and job security, this is one of the main complaints that AAs have.

Have you found yourself thinking “Why is that?”

There are three top answers to this question.

It boils down to CONFIDENCE

The need to accept part of the problem is you don’t have enough confidence in yourself

The need to find out how you can build confidence in yourself

The need to know how to project confidence to others

What about you?

In the meantime, here’s a book suggesting in case you want to know more about the subject — “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” by Susan Jeffers, Ph.D,

Tomorrow, we’ll go more into detail about how to get the confidence you need, You’ll find it interesting…
